At Jerry’s Painting & Decorative Finishes, we offer a free estimate. The owner of our company comes to your location to examine your decking’s issues. Once on the job, we prep your deck by thoroughly cleaning decking boards and replacing and repairing the panels that need to be replaced and repaired. We make sure the finish is done correctly the first time, which ensures a long-lasting finish.

If your deck has multiple layers of stain, then cracking and peeling start to happen within a year after another coat is added. To correct this problem, we recommend our optional Deck Sanding service. We sand your deck down to the bare wood and start anew. When the boards are adequately prepped, our professional painters apply your chosen stain to the surface.

Our Color Consultation service helps you pick color and texture combinations that will flow from the exterior of your home or business. Be it transparent oils, latex stain that is see-through, or solid, we can direct you to the best option for your project.

Here are a few types of stain we work with:

  • Wood Sealant – No color, just protection.
  • Translucent Stain – Lets the natural wood color/grain show.
  • Transparent Stain or Toner – A hint of color that lets natural color/grain show.
  • Semi-transparent Stain – Subtle color that lets natural color/grain show.
  • Semi-solid Stain – A rich color hides some of the wood grain and shows some texture.
  • Solid Stain – Rich, opaque color allows the wood’s texture to show but completely covers flaws.

His work turned out to be extremely thorough and professional. He had to do a lot more than expected due to some problems in our walls and some areas where the trim was messed up. Due to a power venter failure, soot permeated the entire interior of our home. After extensive cleaning by Servpro of Bangor/Ellsworth, all interior walls and ceilings needed to be painted. Upon the recommendation of Project Manager Jon Symonds, I contacted Jerry's Painting for an estimate. Jerry was very prompt and professional by showing up the following day. His estimate was reasonable and we hired him to do the job. He added us to his schedule and kept us informed when he could start the job. Jerry and his experienced crew did a fantastic job on the front entry hall and open stairwell in our 1890s house. Before applying the skim coat and paint, they carefully patched all flaws in the original brown-coat plaster and caulked seams, corners, door trim, and baseboard moldings. Everything was meticulously done, including the complex spindles on the balustrade. We couldn't be more pleased with the final product. The crew arrived promptly at 7:30 AM and worked steadily throughout the day. They were polite and professional, and clearly took pride in working to Jerry's high standards. The work involved sanding a lot of plaster but produced very little dust, thanks to the advanced equipment that was used. Jerry was on site regularly. He gave the crew its instructions every morning, checked back to see how things were going, and took on certain more challenging tasks himself. If anything was not to his expectations, he would have it done over. For example, when primer wasn't adhering well to the original paint on the stair risers, he had the crew sand off the old paint down to the wood to create a better surface. Though obviously a busy guy, Jerry was quick to respond to emails and phone calls, and very good about communicating throughout the project. His rates might be higher than some but are fully justified by the quality of the work. We have recommended Jerry to others and would definitely call him again.

Jerry and co just finished painting the interior of our new (to us) 1940s home. Worth their weight in gold. Professional, hard working, on time. I had a bad mudding job left in my house by someone else…3 rooms had walls and ceilings of patchy, blemished, uneven mudding which was painted over. It was a disaster. Jerry came with his crew and within 3 days they had the walls and ceilings looking like new. While they worked, they covered the floors and furniture, they cleaned up at the end of each day. The drywall dust was minimal because they take their time to do it right, and they use a HEPA filter vacuum while they are sanding. I HIGHLY recommend Jerry and his crew.
